Resident Evil Revelations Review

A return to the roots of the "Survival Horror" distressing situations, the best script of the series, the presence of a puzzle, a lot of characters, high duration, multiplayer, best graphic section for 3DS and ... primarily intended to reveal to us the whole truth. These have been some of the promises that Resident Evil: Revelations we had. It's time to discover them. Join us in the world of "Survival Horror".

Partial return to the origins of "Survival Horror"
And we agree that the Japanese developer has highlighted recently by some of his decisions, but still knows how to listen to their users. Maybe Resident Evil: Revelations is a first answer to our prayers. Not that it means the definitive return to the roots of the renowned franchise, but it is a move to get away from the dangerous (and attractive to many) road that was taking the series after the march of Shinji Mikami. Thus, a partial return, though quite shy, to the path initiated by Capcom itself in the 90s, which is embodied in the new Nintendo 3DS also one of the best games of their current catalog.

And it's a relief. After checking the quality of Mercenaries 3D, the truth is that we feared the worst. However, the company has proven to rise, with an MK (general producer of the play) that seems to have understood the complexity of the problem faced by Capcom with this license. Thus, although it retains its taste for action and shooting, we also appreciate a soothing balance with the purest part of Resident Evil through anxious moments, surprises and a dark atmosphere that will make us embarrassed when we put the helmets, we close the door and go down the blind.

In a way we could say that, far from wanting to be a degree of portability remarked, Mercenaries 3D style, this release aims to go further, to even achieve-which is praiseworthy-playable complexity numbered exponents the saga. And is that RE: Revelations not, far from it, a game that falls into the pit of oblivion. On the contrary, it will be one to remember, and for good, thanks, among others, to a script that has not been far from becoming, as its leaders promised at best has had a Resident Evil game.

In any case, the plot that we are in the 3DS launch is equally outstanding, becoming one of the main incentives to end, one after another, each of the 12 episodes present. An argument begins with the search for Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat in a mysterious ship, but evolve into a murkier affair with a dangerous bioterrorist organization in between (Veltro) and, of course, the threat of a new and still most destructive virus than seen so far: the T-Abyss.

All located in between the events in RE4 and RE5 (which raises further interest who have played both games), and is strengthened by the important fact of having the wider squad players of any Resident Evil. We are old friends (as Jill or Chris), but also new additions which, interestingly, are alternated episode after episode, developing parallel stories in different parts of the world, to return repeatedly on them in a complex narrative technique that has a single large purpose: reveal to the whole truth.

Thankfully, in the process, not everything is game, but also make appearance sequences CGI (computer generated) of high quality, and even built-in 3D effect. The taste for "intros"-very common-is inherent in a license as Resident Evil, serving as a valuable tool to get in position. Moreover, some of them will recaps, placed at the beginning of each new episode to not get lost between the amount of characters-a more extensive repertoire of characters in the series, which will appear during the nearly 10 hours of campaign that includes agenda.

Between action and survival
A campaign mode, through the third-person perspective premiered by RE4, puts us in the shoes of Jill, Chris, Jessica, Parker, Keith and Quint to face an adventure where we both essences of "Survival Horror" more classic acting as strong components. For this purpose, title knows move between these two extremes, alternating between players rightly to give us a huge variety of situations. Only then can we move from a state of acongoje and enclosure (inside the ship Queen Zenobia labyrinthine) to another much more adrenaline (dispatching creepy creatures one by one with the machine gun).
In the balance is the virtue of the new from Capcom, but the fact is that we wished that the plane would have been even more survival accused. Surely, it's too much to ask, and will probably never return to what they offered the first exponents of the franchise, but it's nice to be rescued some elements, such as the shortage of ammunition, the emphasis on exploration (we get to lose) and up solving the odd puzzle that, though certainly few, make an appearance.
In this regard, the puzzles, it should take a break to explain that most of them are really mini touch puzzles (consisting of opening a light box to restore electricity to an area). The rest, or rather, the only puzzle classic Resident Evil present in the cartridge, it will be very interesting, well made and even complex, but insufficient ... RE: Revelations slightly disappointed in this respect, and it's a shame, because it shows that there is still much talent Capcom to design a game plan more varied and more balanced situation.
