Chivalry Medieval Warfare Review

After years enjoying the idea of living a medieval battle through the eyes of a gentleman with Age of Chivalry, independent study Torn Banner Studios finally publishes spiritual sequel 'standalone' the famous mod for Half Life 2 under the name of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Just weeks after the release of War of the Roses, is fought on PC now one of the bloodiest battles that are recalled in the genre of competitive multiplayer action. Can you imagine embody one of the warriors seen in 300, Braveheart or Gladiator? Well, neither more nor less that what is proposed is Chivalry.

Chivalry is not intended to mislead anyone, or used to fashion the proposal to charge extra multiplayer have little or nothing to do with the basic objective and clear to annihilate the enemy. Two teams of players (up to 32 in a single game) to choose one of four classes, each with weapons, skills and characteristics, stranded on battlefields whose development rarely escapes the classic "team attacker against defending team "with objectives involved. In that sense, or 'perks', or gusts of casualties, or anything like that: the proposal playable Chivalry is much more classic and straightforward compared to what we are used to seeing today in the genre.

As we say, each class has its own peculiarities. The 'Vanguard' loaded while sprinting, the 'knight' is the most resistance to the attacks is the 'man-at-arms' can dodge real time and goalkeeper, besides being able to attack from a distance, does additional damage if he can strike a blow from behind. All classes can block punches, combos (with each weapon can run three basic moves and one chained) and kick to unbalance the opponent, movements that are learned through the extensive tutorial guiding fighter entering the game. And that is where it really shines is in Chivalry melee. In the absence of any other condition beyond the weapons and the relationship between strength and speed of movement, the battles are balanced, rewarding player skill and not the potential of the class, and that's very important for those looking to Chivalry classic competitive experience. The game also allows practice against bots, indispensable step to learn the basics before entering multiplayer.

Swords, blood, guts, amputees, beheadings ... Chivalry is an excellent game the graphics are  impressive, more so than the technical art. Built on the Unreal Engine 3, the game does not skimp Torn Banner Studios when explicitly show the cruelty and barbarism of the battles of yesteryear. Scenarios (just for now) are wide and varied, and so good point us to the siege of a city as the arena of a theater. The game is designed to be played in first person (though we can change to third pressing "L"), and if to this we add the impeccable cast sound effects applied to both the clash of arms as the war cries of the Knights The result is more immersive medieval battles that have seen so far. We insist that there is a pointer to the technical level game (in some animations can see that behind is an independent company without the resources of larger, plus all the limitations that it carries a motor and veteran like Epic Games), but camouflages its shortcomings with a fine art almost round.

Unlike War of the Roses, which advocates a more realistic gameplay, Chivalry favors the arcade classic idea of "easy to play, hard to master". Learning the basics is easy, but mastering it can take hours of practice. However, given its proposal so directly, now seem to us somewhat limited the number of available maps. The game features an unlockable system for each class that allows us, once obtained, choose from different weapons before entering into battle, but eventually will need Chivalry updates and new game modes to not be repetitive. Torn Banner Studios has already confirmed it is working on new content for the game free as 1v1 arenas or maps.
